As we re-launch the USAWA newsletter which coincides with the International Women’s Day whose theme is “women, peace and politics” we dedicate this issue to celebrating the women who have stepped up and are counting on us for our ardent support. Women in Focus: Ms. Yvonne Khamati

As Yvonne Khamati took me through her story, I could not help but marvel at her courage, wisdom, consistency and eloquence. I thought to myself “how can such a young lady have the answers to almost everything (and I use the word almost loosely)?” and as we drew to a close of the interview it dawned on me that as the youth we lost greatly when Ms Yvonne Khamati did not win the Makadara seat in 2002.
