| More Than 100 Women to Seek Party Tickets

More than 100 women sought nomination for the 210 parliamentary seats in this year’s general elections.
The list included big names like Justice minister Martha Karua, sacked Health minister Charity Ngilu, retired Head of the Civil service Sally Kosgei and former PS Esther Tolle.
Ms Karua and Mrs Ngilu will be defending their former seats in Gichugu and Kitui Central respectively on Party of National Unity (PNU) and Narc tickets.
Prof Julia Ojiambo who is the running mate for ODM Kenya presidential candidate Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka also went going for the Funyula seat.
She will be battling it out for the sixth time with Vice-President Moody Awori of PNU.
Dr Kosgei of ODM will fight it out with Mr Jimmy Choge of Kanu for the Aldai seat, while Mrs Tolle will challenge former Public Service assistant minister Boniface Mganga in Voi.
Others in the race are a former member of the East African Assembly, Dr Margaret Kamar, and former Maendeleo Ya Wanawake Organisation, Mrs Zipporah Kittony, who are eyeing the Eldoret East and the Cherangany parliamentary seats, which were held by Mr Joseph Lagat, and Agriculture minister, Mr Kipruto arap Kirwa.
Newcomer in the political arena Bishop Margaret Wanjiru of Jesus is Alive Ministries is eying the Starehe seat.
