Julia Ojiambo speaking at the National Conference for 2007 Women Parliamentary Aspirants at KICC

We came here to encourage one another. Being a presidential candidate makes me no different from all of you. We are all looking for power because this race ends up in gaining of power and that is what everyone wants.

Kenya is now ready for a woman president. If women put down their barriers and rallied to support fellow women in all positions that is the only key needed for women to get into leadership. Women have the power in their hands to influence the direction that leadership will take in this country. The number of women running for parliament is rising in comparison to when they started.

Each one of us is capable and able. We need each other’s support. Let us encourage all other women in our constituents to support fellow women for this is all the power we have and if well used will bear fruits towards achieving women leadership.

Opportunities come but we are the ones to go after them. They will not come to us. Do not be afraid of Violence because this war is not towards one person it is for everyone and we have to fight it together. We call on all women to vote and for men to support us. Kenya leadership should be a leadership of Kenya by Kenyans not leadership defined by ‘a woman leader’ or ‘a man leader.’
