The Gender & Governance Programme
- About Us
- Partners
- Donors
- Management Agency
Gender and governance in Kenya still reflect inequality and inequity and its effects continue to undermine governance.
There is still a continued marginalization of women in governance and political processes, even with an increased awareness and understanding of gender issues in the wider society through the levels of national engagement on gender issues during for example, the constitutional reform debates, a growing focus on political empowerment of women and hard won but still limited, gender equality supportive legal, institutional and administrative instruments and frameworks.
The overall goal of the GGP is to transform
leadership and governance at all levels in Kenya... More

The Programme Financial and Management Agency (PFMA) supports the GGP through the strengthening of transfer of knowledge to implementing partners, strengthening of programme support, including financial, monitoring and evaluation and ensure non-partisanship in view of the 2007 General Elections.
UNIFEM is the current PFMA of the GGP and under the overall policy direction of the UNIFEM Regional Programme Director, with management provided by key officers with skills on gender, governance, human rights, communications, M & E and financial management.
